First Day in Service!

So today was our first day out in service! Super exciting stuff. We woke up at 7am to be ready to leave at 8:15am. The arrangement is at 8:30 and it takes about 15 minutes to walk there. Yes, we walk to meet for service. And we walk to get everywhere. Unless there's a wonderful sister taking pity on a new girl in town that cant speak any Spanish. In that case, we take a taxi! It's a red little buggy-type deal that drives up and down the streets all day long. There's always a ride, either bus or these taxis. I haven't found out the proper name for them yet.
So I got to work with Sarah. The previously mentioned wonderful sister that took pity on me. She's from Australia. She's here with her husband Aiden (not sure if that's right, hopefully I wont offend them). Sarah was a very good support for us. She said so many encouraging things that I felt refreshed and exhausted all at once by the time it was time to go home.
We got to go to a call Sarah has where the lady just lost her father and husband within the past year. She has two kids and suspects that another one is on the way. I wasn't able to ascertain any of this on my own of course, but thankfully Sarah was good enough to pause and let me in on what was going on. Despite the sad circumstances, there was still room for a good laugh at my expense due to the fact that I was clueless to what was going on. People here are so nice, lol.
Seriously though, people really are super loving here. They listen and are so hospitable! We went to another studies house. There we watched the Organization video. The lady was so nice that afterwards, as we were waiting for Sarah's husband to come and fetch us, she brought us big huge slices of watermelon. It was so delicious and refreshing to have that here where it's so hot! And as we were sitting there as well, the ladies son just so happened to be visiting and wanted the bibles advice on how to save his marriage! So Sarah and Aiden will be returning to give him a Family Happiness book and hopefully start a study.
So it was a good first day despite my lack in the language. And I'm proud of my minor accomplishments. I was able to ask someone there name today. One small step in the right direction.
Tomorrow is our rest day... sort of. We will not be going out in service. All the pioneers are heading out to their pioneer meeting which is a four hour bus ride one way. They'll be leaving at 5am. While they're gone, Kell and I have been designated to bake goodies for all of them (us included of course). So we will go into town by ourselves and purchase what we need and then head home for some cooking! Then we also have been assigned to go ahead and make a footpath from our door to the main path using left over bricks that are laying about from other projects and such.
So I am off to bed. Sleeping in tomorrow. Adios mi amigos y buenos noches!
